Espon seminar about Belgian regions and their reaction on the COVID-19 outbreak

This online seminar focuses on spatial aspects of the Covid-19 crisis, putting impacts and policy responses at the regional and local level in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia in a European perspective. Ongoing explorative ESPON research sheds new light on how the virus behaves spatially, and how place-based measures and initiatives can be an answer to the current challenges imposed by the threat of the pandemic. The seminar will provide insights in the geographical distribution and dynamics of the virus across Europe and its territories, allowing for a better understanding of how spatial factors (population density, mobility, demography, lockdown related measures…) have interfered with the propagation of the virus. These findings will be connected with current and future regional measures and redeployment strategies, in a European perspective. Tristan Claus will contribute.
